Can you smell what the Rock is cooking? [Mar. 18th, 2007|07:21 pm]
So after an entire evening of planning how we were going to get to Stonewall and then leave Stonewall and where we were going to stay once we got to Stonewall, Andrea Marilyn and i decided to get a hotel room at the Stonewall motorInn. We got there only to find out that all 10 rooms were booked up, well what do we do now? So we got drinks at the Rock which is the bar connected to the hotel and made our beer and cocktails green and watched the hockey game, and i spilled an entire travel mug of vodka tonic in my purse. We later crossed the street to the legion where a sign read "pancake breakfast and firemen's due(sp?) Sept 29 and 30th" we met up with megan and craig and drank in andrea's foggy car and then attended a fantastic social, where i won the 'his' auction prize which Richard was ecstatic about when i brought it home this morning. I made maybe the best social sandwich to date, megan played my heart will go on on the recorder and the bride's father was very impressed with my Beausejour beer mug with a bell on it that Jenn Wilgosh found in her basement and gave me on my birthday. The cowbell was played to Mony Mony and 80s rock and roll dance with high kicks was performed by everyone. A 50 year old woman was quite taken with my polka skill and endurance, and after joining people in a kolomeyka type circle i quickly rushed to the bathroom after partaking in too much physical activity after drinking some very frothy green beer. I helped the wedding party clean up the social leftovers and we ended the night with a communal slow dance which was very much influenced by Megan's movement in theater class and i slowed danced with a mannequin body. We then walked back over to the Rock where 'Stonewall guy" bought andrea a drink and the last song of the night was Roxette she's got the look. We then went mingling by going up to people and saying "So Stonewall" and then giving the thumbs up and then i sat cross-legged and watched kenny vs spenny on the big screen in the Rock very much like rolly the dalmation. We experienced the most random act of kindness, Megan's friend Jessica's family offered three complete drunk strangers their sleeping bags and hyda-bed, I cannot express how truly touched i was by this Stonewall family's hospitality.

Out of my way sweat pants and Ugg boots I have 5 min until they stop serving breakfast [Mar. 4th, 2007|10:04 pm]
I think i have just begun to understand why people don't use livejournal anymore. I went to a social in Transcona last night, gosh i love socials. i made plans to be drunk and stumble to my Baba's house but Susan came to pick me up and i think my Baba was a little disappointed. so i think it is important that we drink in Transcona and sleep over at my Baba and John's house. Rule 1 "just as long as you don't throw up in the bed or anything". I later sat on a milk crate and had a drink with Susan and the owner of the phar-side in the store. So Transcona is allll right, note there is a fire place at the Royal George. February just blew by, Megan rolled her car which is not only traumatic because she could have died, but also because just days previous we had a delightful evening Marilyn, Michael, Megan and I sitting in the Safeway parking lot drinking in this car, and then driving down a Sherbrook back alley looking for where the cool kids hang out because a cool kid once told me they hang out there. We eventual found out that hooligans is where the cool kids hang out. So good bye pontiac with Kathy's essential blanket in the back. looking back now i think my departing words to Megan was something about it being a very nice car that the robert andrews kids had no reason to make fun of. A thirty year old taught me the correct way to dance to Mony Mony, and i am very excited to use. I have also discovered that riding the winnipeg transit in the morning with a coffee is almost as enjoyable as riding the winnipeg transit in the evening with a drink. I remain hopeful of the future and what seems to be a current build up of change to come, nothing in particular, but change to come. Other notable things the lebtags had a party, i had fun, i guess so much fun i tuckered myself out and decided to have a quick nap in the hall. I am looking forward to real St. Patricks day and the Brandon fair. Susan brought up a good point that beer and clamato seems to be dieing out and it is important that this manitoba quirk does not burn out.

Casino Royale [Feb. 11th, 2007|06:41 pm]
I work at a casino where i wear a fish shirt and also a red toque and festival sache. I told them the toque was part of my French Canadian heritage so they let me wear it. I work at a casino where there is a night club, you must see it for yourself because it is what dreams are made of. I wish to celebrate my two year anniversary of employment at this casino by getting intoxicated and partying in the casino basement. Drinks are expensive so we should drink lots before and my Pere has informed me that you can get a delicious prime rib dinner at the legion on henderson so i intend to get some prime rib and then drink at the casino. I took the dogs for a walk and heard a crash. I turned around to find a very confused old man had hit a hydro pole, the very uneventful story continues from there, but i won't get into that. I just want to say i don't really care for the people in the St.Clements area who don't think it is necessary to help a neighbour out. here is to body mind and spirit

She kind of reminds me of Mayo-egg [Jan. 28th, 2007|02:12 pm]
January has been fine, Aaron was here and we had a very good visit. We pretty much just hung out around Winnipeg, we went tobogganing, did breakfast, Safeway, cross country skiing. the yuppies did not appreciate our intermediate level skiing, and on the last day i made him go to the legion branch 246 where i won $70. I decided an absolute good must be done with the money i just havn't done it yet. i like that everything i do is always poorly executed. So i made myself a bagel the other day with this honey whipped cream cheese, a technique i stole from my aunty. when i was ready to leave the bagel was not on the counter where it should have been, so either my dad or my dog came and ate my fucking breakfast. I then had a parking ticket to pay at the U of M, rightfully so. i had parked in a parking lot that was not mine because i was late and didn't want to have to walk 12 min in -40, and the woman at the parking office just gave me a warning so i didn't have to pay, and then the free pancake breakfast was still on half an hour after it was supposed to be finished, so i had a free breakfast despite someone or something eating mine. so i realized i have no reason to walk around with my eyes squinted and eyebrows frazzled. On another note the Casino is paying for me to attend a six week training course at Banville and Jones, so every thur for two and a half hours i smell, sip, savour, and spit wine. Also in casino news, the casino is opening up a night club downstairs, the thought just makes me giggle and my eyes sparkle. January has also brought some good speakers and performers, I saw Stephen Lewis, Emily Haines, Justin Trudeau, and Serena Ryder, respectively. Megan and I have also finally watched the Mirror has two faces in its entirety after one year and 3 viewings, 4 for megan, "She told you THIS Morning...". I have also finally went on a night on the town which involved a Fort Richmond residence, Baileys, the bus, the Claw game, a Legion, fun dancing and ugly people breakfast.

A plain tuxedo t-shirt just for me [Jan. 2nd, 2007|12:03 am]
So my new years was saturday, for i booked the whole day off hoping to hang out with Aaron and party so hard that i was slightly intoxicated when i worked on real new years, but it snowed. i was already dressed in a party dress and was determined to go out so I met up with Aaron and we went tobogganing in the blizzard with his friend Tyler. Sunday was a delight, the casino gave everyone tuxedo t shirts that say new years 2007 except my department was not supposed to wear them, which everyone pointed out to me as i wore my tuxedo t-shirt on top of my fish shirt. I replied with "i know that". I was eventually told to take it off, but i wore it all day today and now am going to sleep in it for it is my favorite piece of attire. Richard and Maxine came to visit me and i showed them the computer animated Mr. Sparkle me. I was pretty grumpy the whole night and got a little testy when at 1:15 had not had a break or so much as left the makeshift bar, not even to tend to my finger which i cut on a piece of glass. This piece of glass was from a box of non alcoholic beer which i had kicked in the beer cooler several weeks ago. I was pretty sure it broke for some beer had puddled around the box. Being the asshole i am i turned a blind eye to the mess i had created which only came back to slice my finger open when someone had brought this particular box to my cooler. basically the downstairs of the casino was turned into a big social and it seemed that everyone was having a hell of a time. I was supposed to pick up Susan, but i was not finished in time, someone had stolen her cell phone which made me huddled under the table yelling over calypso music into my cell phone that i am obviously not supposed to have at work trying to get a hold of her very frustrating. It all worked out fine minus the stolen cell phone and at about 1:30 i had a big piece of free casino cake and 2 cups of coffee and then everything was ok. i got home around 4:00 watched Kenny vs Spenny and Erin Brokovitch and eventually passed out on the couch. So i hope everyone's new years was a bust, as new years or any day that people as a collective community drink on tends to be. I guess i can get dressed up and act like a lunatic anytime, and yes i will be wearing a tuxedo t-shirt when i am doing so. Today i slept in late and Max and i drank a pitcher of martinis and we had a lovely new years day dinner. I put on my dressy shirt for dinner.
